Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and religious head of Kashmiri Muslims, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Haji Ghulam Hassan Matoo in Srinagar. The deceased was a long-time well-wisher of the Mirwaiz family and deeply devoted to the pulpit of the historic Jamia Masjid in the city.

According to Global Mirror, in his condolence message, the Mirwaiz remembered Haji Ghulam Hassan Mattoo for his close association with Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) and for his selfless community and social service. Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, the father of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar in May 1990.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid rich tribute to the deceased, describing him as a steadfast, sincere and committed companion and associate. The Mirwaiz personally visited the bereaved family to offer condolences, prayed for the departed soul, and recited Fateha. Ghulam Hassan Matoo was a resident to New Colony, Nigeen, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the Mirwaiz also expressed condolences over the sudden demise of Miraj-ud-Din Masgar of Botakadal, Lal Bazar, Srinagar, who passed away outside Kashmir. He prayed for patience for the bereaved family and eternal peace for the deceased.
