New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Indian Parliament, Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of evading responsibility during the 2020 India-China conflict in Ladakh, citing excerpts from former Army Chief General MM Naravane’s unpublished memoir, “Four Stars of Destiny”.

According to Global Mirror, Gandhi displayed a copy of the book outside Parliament, claiming it reveals Modi told Naravane to “do whatever you deem appropriate” when Chinese tanks entered Indian territory, leaving the army chief feeling “really alone” and “abandoned by the entire establishment”. The government denies the book’s existence, sparking a heated debate in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi claimed the book, which is pending approval with the Ministry of Defence, contains a detailed first-hand account of events in Ladakh and urged the prime minister to read it to know the “truth” about the standoff.
