Jammu: The Congress Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir chapter has launched a mass contact campaign titled “Har Ghar Dastak, Ghar Ghar Dastak” to mobilise public opinion for the immediate restoration of full statehood and to highlight the deepening socio-economic and democratic crisis in the territory.
According to Global Mirror, the campaign was formally launched from Jammu with the objective of reaching out to people at the grassroots level and exposing what the party described as the failures of the present governance framework imposed after the illegal revocation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
Addressing the gathering, Congress IIOJK President Tariq Hameed Karra said the Congress has taken upon itself the responsibility of standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their legitimate struggle for democratic rights. He said the continued denial of statehood has led to excessive centralisation of authority, erosion of accountability, weakening of democratic institutions and growing alienation among the people.
